1. JACKSON STREET ROAD DIET RE-STRIPING TO BEGIN: Last year, the Council
approved a “road diet” for Jackson Street. This involves reducing a 4 lane road to a 3
lane road with one lane in each direct and a single center turning lane. The restriping of
the road is now scheduled to begin. In preparation for the Jackson Street re-striping, Al
Dix Concrete will be removing and replacing defective sidewalk in the designated 2021
Sidewalk Rehabilitation Area, and improving curb ramps at proposed crosswalks. This
work will take place the week of August 2, 2021. Additionally, on the week of August 9,
2021, Vinton Construction Company and their sub-contractors will start re-striping
operations. All work will be performed under traffic. Lane restrictions are likely;
however, the Contractor will maintain traffic in both directions.
If you wish to sign up for e-mailed construction updates for the Jackson Street work and
the remainder of Contract 21-09, please send a blank e-mail to contract2109-
subscribe@lists.ci.oshkosh.wi.us. You will receive an e-mail stating your subscription
request has been received. You must reply to the message within five (5) days to complete
the subscription. If you have any questions, please contact Construction Management
Supervisor, Mike Blank.
2. AVIATION BUSINESS PARK PROMOTED DURING AIRVENTURE: Staff from
Oshkosh Media and Community Development teamed up ahead of EAA AirVenture this
week to produce a video promo highlighting the city’s Aviation Business Park. The video
focuses on the amenities offered to businesses that are considering opening up shop in
the area, which is located on the southeast side of Wittman Regional Airport. Click here
to check out the video. Community Development staff are using the video at their booth
at AirVenture as they communicate with prospective tenants for the park. For more
information about the Aviation Business Park, contact Economic Development Specialist
Sean Fitzgerald at 236-5028.
3. POLICE LIGHTS OF CHRISTMAS: The Police Lights of Christmas kickoff event was
held at Pizza Ranch Oshkosh on Wednesday, July 21. Lieutenant Matt Harris, PIO/Crime
Prevention Officer Kate Mann, Community Service Officers Sam Schuldes, Jacob
MacDonald, Aaron Petkovsek, Telecommunications Clerk Joni Kerwin and Oshkosh
Auxiliary Police Officer Jim Basler all participated in the fundraising event, which raised
a total of $1,079! All proceeds from the event go directly to the Lights of Christmas NE
Wisconsin to purchase gift cards for Patrol Officers in our communities to hand out to
citizens in need during the winter and Christmas season. We want to express our
appreciation to Pizza Ranch for sponsoring the event and to everyone who volunteered
or generously donated to this great cause!
4. EAA AIRVENTURE RETURNS: With the excitement of EAA AirVenture returning to
in-person events this year, Oshkosh was expecting large crowds of enthusiasts to attend.
While summer brings a number of special events to the City of Oshkosh, EAA is definitely
the largest attraction. For Oshkosh Police Officers, this means they are busier than usual
monitoring traffic direction and working security details, ensuring that visitors of EAA
have a safe and enjoyable experience. In addition, on opening day of EAA, PIO/Crime
Prevention Officer Kate Mann was “out and about” talking with EAA Security and
patrons about the Department’s Relay App as another resource to provide safety to those
attending the event. As a result, seven new Relay accounts were opened!
5. NATIONAL NIGHT OUT IS BACK THIS TUESDAY: National Night Out is coming

the fun – meet your neighbors – visit with local Police Officers and Firefighters – be a part
