HomeMy WebLinkAbout5-26-21 MINUTESBICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES – May 26, 2021 1. Call to Order Mr. Michelson called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. 2. Approval of April 15, 2021 Meeting Minutes Mr. BellCorelli moved to approve April 15, 2021 meeting minutes and Ms. Stam seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. 3. Jim Michelson – Resignation Mr. BellCorelli presented a homemade trophy/award to Mr. Michelson as a way of honoring his services to the committee and efforts to improve bicycle and pedestrian matters within the City of Oshkosh. The committee appreciates your dedication and all of Mr. Michelson’s years of service. 4. Committee Meeting Method – Virtual or In-person Mr. BellCorelli made a motion to stay virtual for June and Mr. Buelow seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously. 5. Bicycle Registration – Discussion Mr. BellCorelli explained his interest in re-assessing the bicycle registration process that the City currently follows. He would like to make the process more equitable as far enforcement and potentially reduced costs associated with maintaining the lost bicycle program. Mr. Lynch, local bicycle shop owner, explained that bicycles have their own serial number which is what his shop uses to keep track of bicycles. Comments were made that it appears to be a redundant process of tracking private property since there is already serial numbers from the manufacturer. Mr. BellCorelli explained that there are costs associated with managed the storage of lost bicycles. Mr. Buelow had the idea of utilizing technology to create a database of serial numbers. This topic is ongoing and will continue to be discussed at future meetings. Staff will conduct more research on this topic. 6. Branded Route Update Ms. Naudziunas explained that she is waiting for this item to get added to the Advisory Parks Board agenda and that will likely be on the June agenda. 7. Agenda Items for the Future Meeting(s) The committee requests to keep an on-going list of potential agenda items to help keep track of ideas, this list will be found on each agenda. 8.
