Extensive time working and volunteering in this community has aided me in creating a large network and great connection to the people in the community. I've see situations where residents have been negatively impacted in renting situations due to lack of knowledge/ understanding. I would like to be apart of advocating for tenant rights. Please write a concise statement which describes why you wish to serve on the above Board/Commission. I would start by listening and asking questions when necessary. I would collaborate with both tenants and landlords to understand their point of view and interest to foster a healthier relationship built on respect and understanding between all involved parties. 1 Moran, Diane From:City of Oshkosh Board/Commission Background Questionnaire <DoNotReply@ci.oshkosh.wi.us> Sent:Monday, April 19, 2021 2:11 PM To:Moran, Diane Subject:City of Oshkosh Board/Commission Background Questionnaire EXTERNAL SENDER. Besides a very complete understanding of how the City's boards and committees operate, I am very capable of working with other whose goals and ideals match with mine, but can work equally well with those who have opposing views. I believe I am well-suited to serve on this committee because, as a member of a minority group, I have a desire to see that my hometown of Oshkosh be as diverse and welcoming as possible. Please write a concise statement which describes why you wish to serve on the above Board/Commission. Would work with the other committee members to make Oshkosh a welcoming community for all, where members of diverse groups not only feel welcome, but accepted. I think this can be achieved through holding or sponsoring activities or events that appeal to diverse and/or minority groups but where the community as a whole can interact and get to know people unlike themselves and where minority members can see and make connections with others like them. This is but one idea; there are many ways the community could be made better when it comes to diversity and/or minorities. I have been a member of the Rotary Club of Neenah since 2014, and am currently in the middle of a 2-year term as President. Through Rotary in particular I've worked directly with the Parks Department, Police Department, and the Neenah Joint School District on civic events and fundraisers. I'm versed in managing budgets and coordinating groups of volunteers toward a common goal. The three committees that I've sited in this application align with my values and interests as a 1930s character home owner, master gardener, and recreational cyclist. My graduate studies in conjunction with my volunteerism and work as a nonprofit Executive Director this last decade have set me up well to jump right in and be a productive addition to any city commission that drives me. I am quite familiar with the dedication needed to fill a term. Personally, I am committed to the ideals of service above self, and I think it is everyone's civic duty to engage our community through this kind of work. Please write a concise statement which describes why you wish to serve on the above Board/Commission. This question itself is redundant, as service on a board is itself an act toward bettering a community. However, I come ready to work, be reliable, and make this kind of service relevant to my generation.
