RE: Award Bid to Sherwin Industries Inc. for Walk-Behind Pavement Router for
the Street Division ($20,450.00)
BACKGROUND
The 2021 CIP allocated $25,000.00 for a new walk behind pavement router for the Street Division.
The new unit will replace a 1996 Crafco unit with 5,015 hours. Various components of the 1996
unit have been rebuilt/repaired over the years to extend its service life but the engine will need
replacing soon. This unit is used during street maintenance to remove loose debris, sand and
gravel from cracks before they are sealed.
ANALYSIS
Working with the Public Works Mechanics Manager, Purchasing prepared bid specifications for
this unit. The bid was posted on DemandStar. Bids were due March 26, 2021. One bid was
received. The bid tab is attached. Based on the bid review, it was the consensus of staff that the
sole bid with trade met the minimum bid requirements and is competitive.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total fiscal impact for this unit is $20,450.00. The 2021 CIP allocated $25,000.00 for this unit.
This project will be charged to A/N# 03230430 7204 66111 (Machinery and Equipment- Walk
Behind Router).
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award this bid to Sherwin Industries Inc. for
$20,450.00.
Respectfully Submitted, Approved:
