2. GOVAPALOOZA EVENT: Oshkosh City Manager Mark Rohloff and Police Chief Dean
Smith, along with Rice Lake Police Chief Steven Roux and Altoona Police Chief Kelly Bakken,
presented on Policing in 2021 during the Govapalooza virtual event held on Monday, March
1, 2021. The Govapalooza was hosted by WCMA-WI (Wisconsin City/County Management
Association), and is a combined event by 16 different professional associations throughout
the country to deliver quality training programs.
3. TOY GIVEAWAY: Officers from the Oshkosh Police Department were invited to attend an
outdoor event on Saturday, February 27, 2021, located at Bowenstreet Repeats. Several
officers stopped by to say hi to the kids who were there!
The event was Bowenstreet Repeat’s first annual Toy Giveaway in honor of Black History
Month. Each child that attended the event received a brand new, age appropriate toy, which
included a poem, quote, or short story about an influential Black American from the past or
present.
Bowenstreet Repeat’s is a new thrift store in Oshkosh! Their number one goal is to keep as
much as possible from the landfill. With this in mind, Bowenstreet Repeat’s donates and
upcycles as much as possible, properly disposing only when absolutely necessary. Our
second goal, is to give back to the community. Any item that is considered an immediate
“need” such as personal hygiene items, all clothing, kitchen dishes and appliances, towels,
blankets and pillows etc., are donated to local organizations who distribute the items to those
in need, at no cost!, and 20% of all sales go to local charities!
