RE: Cooperative Purchase of Turnout Gear for Fire Department ($38,050.00)
BACKGROUND
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1851 has requirements set forth for PPE standards of
turnout gear which include a maximum service life of 10 years for turnout gear items such as pants and
jackets. The Fire Department identified various turnout items in their inventory that have exceeded these
NFPA 1851 service life standards. The 2021 CIP allocated $94,500.00 for the Fire Department to bring
any outdated turnout gear into NFPA 1851 compliance.
