HomeMy WebLinkAbout10. 21-07 JANUARY 12, 2021 21-07 RESOLUTION (CARRIED 7-0 LOST LAID OVER WITHDRAWN ) PURPOSE: APPROVE PURCHASE FOR 2021 MICROSOFT LICENSES TO SHI INTERNATIONAL CORP. FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DIVISION ($75,654.90) INITIATED BY: PURCHASING DIVISION WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh Information Technology Division utilizes Microsoft software licenses; and WHEREAS,it is necessary to provide for server upgrades in order to remain secure and compliant with Microsoft's supported software version; and WHEREAS,by participating through the State of Wisconsin Cooperative Purchase program, staff was able to obtain a more competitive price; and WHEREAS, section 12-15 of the City of Oshkosh Municipal Code provides that purchases may be done without the use of formal sealed quotations or bids pursuant to a contract with any other local, state or federal governmental unit or agency; and WHEREAS, the State of Wisconsin Contract with SHI International Corp. (#505ENT-MI6-VARSOFTWARE-03) offered the lowest price for our 2021 Microsoft licensing needs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed pursuant to Section 12-15 of the Oshkosh Municipal Code to the purchase of the 2021 Microsoft license order: SHI INTERNATIONAL CORP. 290 Davidson Avenue Somerset, NJ 08873 Total: $75,654.90 JANUARY 12, 2021 21-07 RESOLUTION CONT'D Money for this purpose is hereby appropriated from: Acct. Urben, General Services Manager DATE: December 31, 2020 RE: Approve Purchase for 2021 Microsoft Licenses to SHI International Corp. for Information Technology Division ($75,654.90) BACKGROUND This memo summarizes the 2021 Microsoft software license order for our Information Technology Division's server upgrades. These upgrades are required to remain secure and compliant with Microsoft's supported software version. The Information Technology 2021 operating budget has funds allocated for this upgrade. ANALYSIS IT and Purchasing has confirmed the State of Wisconsin Contract with SHI International Corp. (#505ENT- M16-VARSOFTWARE-03) offered the lowest price for our 2021 Microsoft licensing needs. FISCAL IMPACT This purchase will have a total fiscal impact of $75,654.90. Funding for these licenses would be charged to the 2021 Information Technology division operating budget as follows: A/N#: 01000110 6506 ($7,311.90) and A/N#: 01000110 7230 ($68,343.00). RECOMMENDATION Section 12-15 of the Municipal Code provides that subject to approval of the City Manager, cooperative purchases pursuant to a contract with any other local, state or federal governmental unit or agency may be made without following a competitive bidding or quotation process. hi accordance with Section 12- 15 of the Municipal Code and with approval by the City Manager, Purchasing recommends the Common Council approve this purchase pursuant to the State of Wisconsin cooperative contract noted above with SHI International Corp., 290 Davidson Avenue, Somerset, NJ, 08873, for $75,654.90.
