There is no fee to apply to the Historic Plaque Program. Should an application
be approved by the Oshkosh Landmarks Commission, an official bronze plaque
may be purchased by the applicant for $240 to display on his or her property.
The cost covers the production of the plaque.

3. Historic Details
At least one qualifier below must be met in order to be eligible for an
historic plaque. Which of the following criterion applies to this application:
❑ Cultural significance to the city, state or nation.
❑ Prominent example of architectural style.
❑ Prime example of work by a master builder, designer, or architect.
❑ Site of a significant city, state, or national event.
❑ Dwelling place of an historically significant person.
4. Property Pictures
Applicants must submit photos of:
• The front of the property from the street.
• Both sides of the property from any distance.
• The back of the property from any distance.
• Historic photos of the property (if possible)

S. Written History of the Property
Please provide a written background of the property. Be thorough! This is
your opportunity to make your case for the historic register. Include
context of the property as it relates to the development of the
community, information on previous owners & tenants, information
relevant to important people or events, background of architectural style
or builders, and any relationship to other properties of similar architectural
style or existing historic designation. The Oshkosh Public Library is a terrific
local resource for historic information on properties, and may be of help
framing a context for your narrative.
