2. Jackson street corridor plan and safety study – The consultants hired to perform the traffic
safety analysis on Jackson Street from Church Avenue to Murdock Avenue presented the
study and their recommendations at the joint workshop on October 29th. Based on this
workshop and their recommendations, Staff is recommending a phased approach. We
recommend speed boards be installed in 2021, a partial road diet be considered in 2022 and if a
full road diet if needed after that. A phased approach would allow the city to properly budget
for these improvements as well as analyze the impact of each phase. Additionally, a phased
approach would allow the traffic impacts of a potential new Merrill Middle School campus to
be evaluated.

3. South Main Street restriping – WisDot requested a traffic operational analysis be
conducted before approving the restriping of South Main Street from 8th Avenue to South Park
Ave. We have hired KL Engineering to perform this study. The study will show traffic
operations and level of service currently, and model what the same would be after the
proposed street reconfiguration.
