RE: Purchase of PPE Extractor and Dryers using Routes to Recovery Funding ($46,710.50)
BACKGROUND
The City of Oshkosh received an allocation of funds from the State of Wisconsin Routes to Recovery program
for the purpose of COVID-19 prevention, mitigation and recovery. In accordance with the Routes to Recovery
purchasing guidelines, the City spent $46,710.50 of this funding to add one commercial extractor and six
drying cabinets.
ANALYSIS
As a COVID-19 protective measure to prevent the transmission of infectious disease, the Oshkosh Fire
Department ordered drying cabinets for the firefighting personal protective equipment ensemble for each of
the six fire stations. These drying cabinets were purchased from Belson Company and the total cost of the
cabinets, freight, installation, and training was $39,715.20. An additional commercial extractor washing
machine was purchased for the purpose of decontaminating the PPE from Continental Girbau for $6,995.30
FISCAL IMPACT
The total fiscal impact for the firefighter personal protective equipment extractor and dryer cabinets to protect
against COVID-19 was $46, 710.50. These purchases were charged to A/N#: 01000914 6401 11104 COVID
expenditures.
RECOMMENDATION
In accordance with the Routes to Recovery/Cares Act purchasing guidelines I am hereby submitting a report
of these purchases to the Common Council. If you have any questions on this purchase please contact myself
or Fire Chief Mike Stanley.
