Vision
A new art installation to be located in William Waters Plaza honoring architect William
Waters. There are no known photos of him, so we will not be pursuing a bust or physical
depiction of Waters. The goal will be to allow the artists to submit proposals based on the
information and qualifications we release.
Proposed Process
Public Arts and Beautification Committee will review the vision and scope of work for the
project. Alexa will lead the 'call to artists' process and the Public Arts and Beautification
Committee will inform staff on which artist to select. Staff will have final say in which artist is
selected. Staff will review artist proposals and select preferred artists. Selected artist
proposals will be supplied to all 3 committees to receive input on concepts.
Timeline
September meeting for Public Arts and Beautification Committee will kick off the discussion.
Advisory Parks Board meeting Sept. 141" presentation on project progress and plans. Call to
artist materials will be developed through fall and released in early winter. Selection of artist
will be finalized by February 2021. Followed by the development of contract and timeline
with selected artist.
