RE: Award Bid to Wisconsin Lift Truck Corp. for a Forklift for the Transportation Department
($32,022.00)
BACKGROUND
The preliminary 2021 CIP budget included a $34,000.00 request from the Transportation Department for
a new forklift. The new unit would replace a 1985 era forklift that has reached the end of its service life.
The new unit would come with current safety standards, updated emissions and a warranty. During the
2021 CIP discussions it was determined this unit would qualify for purchase with Federal Cares Act
funding received by the Transportation Department.
ANALYSIS
Working with the Public Works Mechanics Manager, Purchasing prepared bid specifications for this unit.
The bid was posted on Onvia DemandStar. Bids were due August 24, 2020. The bid tab is attached. Staff
review confirmed the low bid met the minimum bid specifications.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Transit Department received $4,553,754 in Cares Act Funding for COVID-19 prevention, mitigation
and recovery. The total fiscal impact for this unit is $32,022.00. These purchases were charged to A/N#:
0511-1728-6517-11108 GO Transit CARES Act expenditures. The remaining Cares Act funding will be
used for a variety of project/items as outlined in the 2021 CIP.
