HomeMy WebLinkAbout17. 20-374 AUGUST 25, 2020 20-374 RESOLUTION (CARRIED__7-0____LOST _______ LAID OVER _______ WITHDRAWN _______) PURPOSE: APPROVE SPECIAL EVENT / OSHKOSH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE / UTILIZE OPERA HOUSE SQUARE & MARKET STREET FOR THE JAZZ IN THE SQUARE SERIES / SEPTEMBER 1 – SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 (WEDNESDAYS) INITIATED BY: CITY ADMINISTRATION NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that approval is granted to Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce (Jessica Meidl) to utilize Opera House Square and Market Street, September 1 through September 30, 2020 (Wednesdays) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., for the Jazz in the Square series, in accordance with the municipal code and the attached application, with the following exceptions/conditions: A. B. C. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as a condition of approval, the Event Organizer shall pay the City’s actual costs for extraordinary services. Cost Estimates for Extraordinary Services Police Staffing $36.73 (preliminary estimate include 2.5 dedicated CSO hrs.) Streets Department Staffing $153.65 (preliminary estimate includes 1 hr. each week for delivery and pick up of barricades for 5 weeks) Equipment / Vehicle Use $86.22 (preliminary estimate includes dedicated vehicle use for delivery / pick up of barricades for 1 hr. per week for 5 weeks) Supplies / Materials $110 (preliminary estimate includes use of barricades and signs for 5 weeks) Oshkosh TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Kathryn Snell, Special Events Coordinator DATE: August 20, 2020 RE: Downtown Business Improvement District—Jazz in the Square 2020 The Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) has submitted a Special Event Permit applications for a Jazz in the Square series that would include six (6) outdoor live music events hosted at Opera House Square on Wednesday evenings in September. The Special Events Review Committee (SERC), which includes a representative of the Winnebago County Health Department, has reviewed the application and are comfortable with the measures agreed upon by the BID, to ensure the safety of the public at the event. These measures include individuals bringing their own chairs or blankets to utilize and to spread out throughout the square. No food or beverages will be available for sale, social distancing and masks will be encouraged if individuals are not from within the same household and are unable to socially distance themselves.
