Emphasis for these installations has been curb/gutter streets so that grading work can be minimized. Additionally, the City had an inquiry as to when sidewalks will connect this area to the sidewalks on West 201h Avenue. ANALYSIS The 2020 program is proposed to install sidewalk and any necessary handicap ramps on the south side of West Waukau Avenue, from Bellfield Drive to 460' west of South Washburn Street. This section will complete the sidewalk installation in these blocks, improving pedestrian access. This sidewalk is the start of a larger initiative to connect this part of the City to the rest of the City for safer pedestrian access. Moving forward, as funding allows, this sidewalk would connect to South Washburn Street and then also to West 2081 Avenue. FISCAL IMPACT Funding is included in the 2020 Capital Improvement Program. Property owners are charged for 100% of the sidewalk construction expense abutting their land and the City pays for handicap ramp installations at intersections. RECOMMENDATIONS I recommend approval of the resolution.
