HomeMy WebLinkAbout7-13-20 Minutes ADVISORY PARK BOARD JULY 13, 2020 Present: Lauren Bartelt, Amy Davis, Tony Dirth, Scott Greuel, Devon Hudak, Deborah Martin, Becky Metz, Lori Palmeri Absent: Lester Millette Staff: Ray Maurer, Parks Director; Chad Dallman, Assistant Parks Director; Stacy James, Recording Secretary CALL TO ORDER & ROLL CALL Chair Davis called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. A quorum was determined to be present. INTRODUCTIONS Mr. Maurer introduced Deborah Martin who is the new Advisory Park Board member. She moved to Oshkosh about five years ago to be closer to family and has become familiar with the parks system and amenities. She has been impressed with the offerings here in Oshkosh. Mr. Maurer then introduced Mayor Lori Palmeri who is the new Council Representative for the Advisory Park Board. She states that she has served on many different boards in the city and is now taking her turn with Advisory Park Board. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion by Hudak for approval of the May 11, 2020 minutes. Seconded by Dirth. Motion carried 8-0. NEW BUSINESS 1) TOUR OF 24th AVENUE BOAT LAUNCH IMPROVEMENTS Mr. Maurer states that this time of year is a good time to have summer park tours since there usually aren’t a lot of agenda items to discuss and thought it would be beneficial to highlight some of the upgrades on the South side of town, many of which were completed with the help of a DNR Grant. Mr. Dallman explained that 24th Avenue Boat Launch is a 1.7 acre site and reviewed the following upgrades which had been completed over the past couple of years at this site:  ADA upgrades to fishing pier and walkway to t-dock  Parking lot upgrade to create turn around for boaters  Restroom building upgrades  Electronic pay station for boat launch fees Upgrades to the lighting are on the docket in the next couple of years at this location as well. ADVISORY PARK BOARD MINUTES PAGE TWO JULY 13, 2020 2) TOUR OF FUGLEBERG BOAT LAUNCH IMPROVEMENTS Mr. Dallman explained that Fugleberg Boat Launch is a 2.4 acre site and reviewed the following upgrades which had been completed over the past couple of years at the site:  Informational kiosks installed  Restroom building upgrades  Electronic pay station for boat launch fees  Upgraded lighting (LED) Future upgrades at the site include replacing the current pier with composite decking materials. 3) TOUR OF FUGLEBERG BOAT LAUNCH IMPROVEMENTS Mr. Dallman explained that Fugleberg Park is a 2.5 acre neighborhood park and reviewed the following upgrades which had been completed over the past couple of years at this site:  Roofing replacement on the open air shelter  Playground equipment replaced in 2017  Perimeter fencing removed along Fugleberg Trail Future upgrades as this site include possible replacement of the perimeter fencing along Fond du Lac Avenue, replacing park lighting and upgrading the park signs.
