HomeMy WebLinkAbout12. 20-335 JULY 28, 2020 20-335 RESOLUTION (CARRIED___7-0__ LOST ________ LAID OVER ________ WITHDRAWN ________) PURPOSE: AWARD BID TO PACKER CITY INTERNATIONAL AND MONROE TRUCK EQUIPMENT FOR A TRI-AXLE DUMP TRUCK CHASSIS AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE WATER DISTRIBUTION DIVISION ($146,567.00) INITIATED BY: PURCHASING DIVISION WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh has heretofore advertised for bids for a new single tri-axle dump truck chassis and equipment for the Water Distribution Division; and WHEREAS, upon the opening and tabulation of bids, it appears that the following are the most advantageous bids: PACKER CITY INTERNATIONAL 2940 N. Victory Appleton, WI 54319 Chassis - Total Bid with trade: $81,350.00 MONROE TRUCK EQUIPMENT 1151 West Main Avenue De Pere WI, 54115 Equipment – Total Bid: $65,217.00 Total: $146,567.00 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the said bids are hereby accepted and the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter into appropriate agreements for the purpose of same, all according to plans, specifications, and bids on file. Urben, General Services Manager DATE: July 21, 2020 RE: Award Bid to Packer City International and Monroe Truck Equipment for a Tri -Axle Dump Truck Chassis and Equipment for the Water Distribution Division ($146,567.00) BACKGROUND The 2020 CIP allocated $202,000 for a new tri -axle dump truck chassis and equipment for the Water Distribution Division. The new unit will replace a 2006 tandem axel dump truck. The new unit's dump box will have a greater capacity, reducing the amount of trips necessary to haul spoils. ANALYSIS Working with the Public Works Mechanics Manager, Purchasing prepared bid specifications for this unit. The bid was posted on Onvia DemandStar. Bids were due July 7, 2020. The bid tab is attached. Based on the bid review, it was the consensus of staff that the low bids for both items met the minimum bid requirements. FISCAL IMPACT With trade-in, the fiscal impact for the chassis low bid is $81,350.00. The fiscal impact for the tri -axle equipment low bid is $65,217. Combined, the total fiscal impact of both items is $146,567.00. The 2020 CIP allocated $202,000.00 for the unit. This project will be charged to A/N# 03221810 7210 66030 (Motor Vehicles- CNG Tandem Axle Dump Truck w Stainless Steel Dump Body). RECOMMENDATION Purchasing recommends the Common Council award the chassis bid to Packer City International for $81,350.00 and the tri -axle equipment bid to Monroe Truck Equipment for $65,217.00.
