ADVISORY BOARD OF THE OSHKOSH SENIORS CENTER
MEETING MINUTES, October 29, 2019

Health Report: Bob K. stated they had a meeting and discussed how the brain fair went. It went good,
some comments were misunderstood as the boxes they checked didn’t match their wonderful comments.
He explained some comments were they would have liked more time to see more, have the vendors there
longer. Jean passed out a sheet showing programs from 2018 and 2019.
·Vascular screening went well, 40 screened and 4 diagnosis to see family doctor
·CBD oil was a great program
Friends Report:Jean shared the FOSC had a thank you event to the volunteers and sponsors for Food
Truck Friday(FTF). She stated there was not a high attendance and that FOSC was considering a time
change next year for the event, to maybe at lunch time.
Chairman’s Report: NONE
Manager’s Report:Jean passed out an attendance chart from 2018-2019 for all members to view. She
passed out an old organization chart as well as the new one and explained why the changes were made.
Jane is going to be more in a supervisory role, she will create ideas and the activities coordinators will
implement them; Evan will be managing the leach in June, July and August. He will be there almost 100%
of the time during those months; Bob W. stated he is impressed by Evans enthusiasm with everything he
does; more wellness activities will take place during his absence; Bobbie will assisting volunteers,
hopefully having the desk covered 100% by volunteers, leaving Kerry to be more available to work on stats
and assist in programs. Bobbie will also, be doing office duties.
·There were 12 applicants for the Activities Coordinator in fitness/wellness; five will be
interviewed all have exercise experience.
·What does Anne do? Jean replied, works with the FOSC on their annual appeal letters and FTF;
grant writing, working on a grant with technology for the future, so everyone can understand
and learn it—Mary stated Anne is great at what she does.
·Preliminary Budget meeting today with Council-went well-program rates will remain the same,
no increase—classes may have different charges
·Bob W. questioned if video on Friday will remain or if there will be a class taught; Jean replied
the decision will depend on the new coordinator, currently the participants in the group want
the video, she explained she needed a break to doher office work.
·Cedric stated that he would like the pictures in the newsletter to be bigger so you can see the
project better. Jean stated she would discuss with staff.
·Fisk Gallup Fund has funding available, must be a City resident and meet guidelines, contact
Bobbie Jo at 232 5301.
·Jane D. announced hats off to employees of the Center, for incredible amount of the things that
go on here, with little staff.
·Bob K. questioned if AARP will be doing taxes at the Center again this year. Jean replied yes,
they will and that they received new equipment. Last year they served over 1,000 people.

pm.
