Consent Items a.Approval of August 27, 2019Minutes: Cedricmovedto accept the minutes as written,Fleurette seconded, minutes approved as written. InformationalTopics:NONE Discussion Items:NONE Governance Report:NONE Health Report: Bob K. stated the Brain Fair had 120 attendees and went well. Bob K. and Bob W. were st thanked for their muscleand to everyone that helped. Scott stated it was his 1time attending and he was impressed, by the diverse group. ·The next health Committee meeting will be October 22, 2019, the main discussion will be planning th 4Quarter of Live eventand winter events—Jean suggestedto have volunteer opportunities there, maybe have the Humane Society, Literacy Council and Hospital there with tables-showing their volunteer opportunities ·Jane D. provideda review of a book,“The Giftof Years” Friends Report:Anne reported the Food Truck Fridays have made approximately $35,000, which is up about $3,000 from last year, she explained the final numbers have not been given, so this is approximate. She explained how it is great exposure in the community to share how active the Center is. ·Spring appeal will have the dates of the Food Truck Friday events for 2020 on them; the spring appeal brought in about $10,000 in donations; the fall appeal will go out mid-Novemberand donations from that are about $20-22,000.Jane questioned if the profit from Food Truck Friday will be shared in the monthly newsletter. Anne replied, she was reluctantto share amounts as it could potentially stop donations. She stated they will give feedbackto celebrate the success and encourage donations. Cedric suggested indicating where the money went rather than how much. ·FOSC will share $65,000 to the Center. They also have an endowment fund, for future building Anne expressed how much the Center relies on volunteers to functionas they do with 4,000 participants ·Jena expressed how fortunate the Center is to have Facilities taking care of the building structure. Anne express the Center is also fortunate for FOSC, Winnebago County and the tax levy support. ·Anne’s job is divided into 3; ½of her job is with the Seniors Center, the other ½is between Parks and the Neighborhoods ·Anne applied for a grant out of Milwaukee-Bater. The grant is related to social isolation in rural areas. Sheexplained Oshkosh is considered a rural area. She stated Jean and Jane are working witha technology committeeand discussing new opportunities for classes. She explained workingwiththeneighborhoods is important part to this grant as it will help identify those at risk. Cedric questioned if using technologytoo much at home could cause someone to become isolated. Anne stated that possibilityis very low.She explained shewill be workingwith Oshkosh Media as well. Presenters will be able to be viewed from home LIVE. She stated that being isolated is worse than smoking 13 cigarettesa day.Bob W. questioned how much the grant is that she is applying for. Anne replied $135,000, there are 12 groups going for the grant and four will be granted up to 200,000 each. She stated the group will be coming in next Friday to view the facility and help to developa plan. They will provide guidanceon evaluation, review proposal and suggest measures. Sheexpressed the gratitude towards the group for all of their help. ·Anne announced there will be a 70”television coming from a previous grant.Jane has purchased two blood pressure cuffs that will connect to a phone and collect data so there is capability to send it to your Dr. ·Bob K. stated that the one onone contact withstudents for the Senior Connects is great. ·Riverside Cemetery is having Beer Barons & Saloon Owners tour in the cemetery. They will also be doing Cemetery Confessions. Chairman’s Report: Scott stated he read through a binder of concerns that was given to a board members from a participant. He stated he had called and left a message at the number. Manager’s Report:Jean read through the Novembernewsletter. st ·October 1Senior Expo ·Painting of yellow striping in theparking lots are being taken care of and will be completed soon. Fleurette suggested thatin winter time to put a stick where the curbs are located. ·Signage will take place in 2020, $5,000 will be in budget for signage. The winningname for the buildingswas Oshkosh Seniors Center North; Oshkosh Seniors Center South both will have the logo in it. Motion to Adjournat 4:45pmTerimoved to accept the motion.
