Consent Items a.Approval of June 25, 2019Minutes: Bob K.movedto accept the minutes as written,Bob W. seconded, minutes as written. InformationalTopics: Discussion Items: a.MOTION: ACCEPT NOMINATION OF BARB MILLER AS A BOARD MEMBER: LIZ MADE A MOTION TO ACCEPT BARB MILLER ON THE BOARD; FLEURETE SECONDED; ALL IN FAVOR; MOTION CARRIED. b.It was discussed and determined the meeting dates for October and November will be moved to, ndth October 22and November 19. Governance Report: ·Jean explained at the last meeting they had motioned to recommend Barb Miller to the Advisory Board as a member. Health Report: rd ·Bob K. –committee met July 23 ·the surveythe professor from UWO compiled the survey information and was a job well done ·ukulele is going well –two groups ·brain fair to be held 9/11, full page add in August newsletter th ·4Qtr event, reviewed evaluations-next year date will be April 25; 2 weeks after Easter, hoping to provide another book, panel-any ideas please let the health committee know Friends Report: th ·Jean-Food Truck Friday was lower attendance due to extreme heat, next one is August 16, Bob K. stated that as the evening went on it got busier, sold a lot of water, new food trucks—Jean commended the volunteers for their work Chairman’s Report: NONE Manager’s Report: st ·Jean-October 1Time of Your Life-at the Convention Center, the Center is a community partner, will be in September newsletter ·Jean read through the monthly newsletter ·Discussed intergenerational programming, as the Center had low attendance, Dawn stated that when the library had those programs it was very difficult for attendance ·Liz questioned why there was not A night on the River in June, Jean replied if you run a program th too much it dies out-rather than that program, they are doing Outdoor Fun on August 15-Water ski show put on by the Pathfinders for the community, Pathfinders come every 5 years with 50,000 kids, there will be an area blocked off for the Center’s participants that registered, open to the public; Liz questioned if they needed help with concessions; program from 2-4 pm ·Jean shared stats from the EAA, as they bring in a lot of revenue for the City-Bob K. stated he tried to go with grandkids but the shuttles were stuck in traffic; 644,000 attended; from Canada, Australia, South Africa, all over the world ·Fitness budget information is being put into a working document, for a full time fitness coordinator pushing for this, not sure when filled or if it will be denied; an additional 30-40,000 is needed with benefits for the position, would like someone with certifications as those are costly and would have to be budgeted, she stated they have been in contact with the professor of kinesiology at UWO;Dawn stated full time positions are hard to get approved by council and tax payersBob K. stated it is his understanding the City wants the Center to raise their own funding; Liz was concerned we would lose participants without an instructor, Jean explained she doesn’t want to hire someone part-time and then are able to move to full time, we could possiblylose out having a certified and qualified employee that way; Once we get someone here we will have back up as Jean and Bobbie have done training; Fleurette stated they both are doing a great job at filling in/ Bob W. stated his wife commented on how helpful Evan has been with showing how to use equipment in the fitness area; ·Josh Bellville will be teaching class as a volunteer, he has taught classes at UWO, OSC is going to partner with him, he will teach Functional Fuel classes on Tuesday one at 8 and the other at 9:15 am; Bob K. questioned what high intensity movements mean, Jean replied she was unsure; Dawn stated high intensity is not good for joints, Bob W. stated dislocation comes from high intensity movements. ·Ascension rental is moving forward and will give $550 per month, $6,600 per year will go towards wage of coordinator, agreement will be for 3 years with a 25 increase annually, the City attorney is reviewing the agreement, hoping to get them in in October, Physicaltherapy rehab ·Bob K. was concerned with the hydration challenge and the wording the more the better as he was told to limit his water intake, he stated there are other conditions that do not want so much water intake, Bob W. stated heart failure, kidneys and sodium levels, he stated cardiologist may have issues with that, in teenagers it is probably good that they drink more water; Jean stated if they have problems that the y shouldn’t do the challenge ·Zumba Gold will be taught on Friday mornings by a volunteer, this is our program so it is available for fitness reimbursement ·Woodshop classes have grown ·United Health Care took out an ad for 13 months in the monthly newsletter, which added 3 more pages; Liz stated she was concerned that the Center looks like they are endorsing the ad ·Bob W. asked what was happening with the name change of the building, Jean replied it is not being pursued · Motion to Adjournat 4:34pmFleurettemoved to accept the motion.
