PURPOSE: ACCEPT SIDEWALK EASEMENT AT 2772 OREGON STREET
INITIATED BY: CITY OF OSHKOSH
PLAN COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Approved
BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the City
hereby accepts a sidewalk easement at 2772 Oregon Street, per the attached, and the
proper City officials are authorized and directed to execute any and all documents
necessary for purposes of same.

BACKGROUND / ANALYSIS
The subject site is located at the northeast corner of Oregon Street and W. 28th Avenue. The
proposed easement is a small triangle, 10.00'x 10.00'x 14.14' and 50.40 square feet in size, located
at the southwest corner of the property.
The City is reconstructing Oregon Street and as part of that reconstruction, public sidewalks are
being installed within the public right-of-way. Based on the existing configuration of the public
right-of-way and of certain parcels along Oregon Street, including 2772 Oregon Street, small
edges or corners of parcels are necessary to be used to ensure the proper layout of the new public
sidewalk. This easement satisfies that need for this parcel. The City will have continued rights
to access the easement area to maintain the facilities. The City has been working with the
property owner who has agreed to grant the easement. The City Attorney's office has drafted
the necessary easement documents. The Department of Public Works does not have concerns
with the proposal and will work with the property owners to have the appropriate easement
documents signed and recorded at the Winnebago County Register of Deeds upon Common
Council approval.
RECOMMENDATION
The Plan Commission recommended approval of the acceptance of the proposed sidewalk
easement at its June 2, 2020 meeting. Please see the attached staff report and meeting minutes
for more information.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Applicant: City of Oshkosh Department of Public Works

Actions Requested:
The City of Oshkosh is requesting acceptance of an easement to allow placement of a sidewalk
at the southwest corner of 2772 Oregon Street.

Oregon Street as proposed.
The Plan Commission approved of the acceptance of the proposed sidewalk easement as
requested. The following is the Plan Commission's discussion on this item.
