TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Mark Lyons Planning Service Manager DATE: May 21, 2020 RE: Accept Storm Sewer Easement at 1658 Maricopa Drive (Plan Commission Recommends Approval) BACKGROUND / ANALYSIS The subject site is located at the southwest corner of Maricopa Drive and Allerton Drive. The proposed easement is nearly an equilateral triangle,15.00' x 1500; x 15.11' and 97.92 square feet in size, located at the northeast corner of the property. The easement will occur on currently vacant private property just inside the sidewalk. The City plans to install a storm sewer inlet and associate piping within this easement. The new inlet will improve surface drainage from the owner's property and help the City's overall storm water management system in the area. The City will have continued rights to access the easement area to maintain the facilities. The City has been working with the property owner and he has agreed to grant the easement. The City Attorney's office has drafted the necessary easement documents. The Department of Public Works does not have concerns with the proposal and will work with the property owners to have the appropriate easement documents signed and recorded at the Winnebago County Register of Deeds upon Common Council approval. RECOMMENDATION The Plan Commission recommended approval of the acceptance of the proposed storm sewer easement at its May 19, 2020 meeting. Arends Actions Requested: The City of Oshkosh is requesting acceptance of an easement to allow placement of storm sewer facilities at the northeast corner of 1658 Maricopa Drive.
