HomeMy WebLinkAboutattachment E Lowering Cost of Prescription Drug'sGovernor's Task Force on Reducing Prescription Drug Prices Earlier this week, (1st week in Dec) the Governor's Task Force on Reducing Prescription Drug Prices met for the first time. This task force is comprised of stakeholders from across the health care industry, industry leaders, state agency officials, legislators, and consumers, responsible for gathering and analyzing data on the development, pricing, distribution, and purchasing of prescription drugs. Over the past two decades, the cost of prescription drugs has skyrocketed – putting a financial strain on too many Wisconsin families. In 1999, the vial of insulin was $16. Now it costs $340. Prescription drugs account for 10% of overall health spending in the United States, and are an estimated cost to Wisconsin residents of over $1.3 billion in 2019.
